Meet our Animals

We believe in providing the best care for our animals. Our animals are raised in clean, healthy, environments, and we take pride in ensuring their welfare and happiness. We use a variety of therapies to treat health concerns with a focus on prevention and immunity building with natural remedies. We are committed to learning and implementing regenerative agriculture that nurtures the land, promotes biodiversity, and ensures the health of our pasture paddocks. We strive to create a positive impact on the environment while producing high-quality livestock, and nutritious food for our community.

Breeds of Cattle we raise

Welcome to our family farm, where our cattle are not just livestock; they are beloved members of our family. As the vibrant season of spring approaches, our herd can be seen eagerly awaiting the lush green pastures, filled with anticipation as we all watch the grass flourish and grow. We understand the importance of timing and are committed to waiting patiently until the grass reaches a safe grazing height, ensuring the best forage availability and optimal soil conditions for our cattle’s health. Once everything aligns perfectly, we initiate our rotational grazing practice. This method involves moving our livestock between different sections, or paddocks, of our pasture, allowing the plants to rest and regrow while our animals enjoy the fresh grasses in other areas. This approach not only promotes healthier pastures but also enhances the overall well-being of our cattle. However, we recognize that not all cattle are bred specifically for a grass-only diet, and not all grass and pastures provide the high-quality nutrition necessary for optimal health. To address this, we supplement their diet with a variety of nutritious options, including whole grains, seeds, legumes, and alfalfa pellets. We take it a step further by fermenting whole grains, which significantly improves their nutritional value and reduces waste, ensuring that our cattle fully utilize the feed provided to them.

Breeds of Chickens we raise

Here on our farm, we take great pride in raising a wonderfully diverse multi-breed flock of chickens. Each of these beautiful birds brings its own unique personality and charm, enriching our farm experience. Not only do they provide us with a breathtaking palette of colorful eggs, they also possess various characteristics that make them special, such as their forage or confinement preferences, seasonal egg production, broodiness, mothering instincts, weather resilience, and temperament. Having a variety of breeds is essential for maintaining genetic diversity within our flock, which ultimately enhances their ability to withstand diseases and adapt to environmental stressors.

While we allow our chickens the freedom to roam across our acreage, some prefer to stay close to the barn, while others venture out and forage well into the evening hours before returning. We even have a few "rogue" chickens that seem to have no intention of returning to the coop for the night, choosing instead to find their own roosting spots.

To ensure our flock remains healthy and vibrant, we supplement them with a nutritious diet consisting of whole grains, seeds, and legumes, complemented by alfalfa that we soak in water until fermentation occurs. This process allows beneficial bacteria to break down the nutrients, promoting overall well-being and supporting their lively personalities.  Not only does this method greatly improve our flocks overall health, it helps reduce waste of "fines" within the feed but also has proven to save us costs associated with feed which in return allows us to provide nutrient dense eggs at an affordable price for our family, friends, neighbors and community.
